An iconic shred machine, updated for today's technical players.
Some guitars are built to honor a legacy—others carry it forward at full speed. Falling firmly in the latter camp, the EVH 5150 Series Deluxe channels the late Edward Van Halen’s relentless pursuit of feel, tone and control into a modernized, high-performance platform. A basswood body with a deeper upper contour sits comfortably against the player, while a graphite-reinforced quartersawn baked maple neck and compound-radius fingerboard are dialed for speed and fluidity across the entire register. Dual EVH Wolfgang Alnico 2 humbuckers expand the tonal range beyond the original single-pickup formula, and a Floyd Rose bridge with EVH D-Tuna enables expressive dive-bombs and instant tuning shifts. Purpose-built and unmistakably EVH, the 5150 Deluxe is designed to respond as fast as you can play.
Basswood Body With Sculpted Contours
Built around a modified Strat-style basswood body, the 5150 Series Deluxe offers a balanced tonal profile with quick, even response. Basswood’s smooth midrange and controlled low end provide a focused foundation that translates clearly under gain, making it ideal for articulate rhythm work and saturated lead tones. A deeper upper body contour enhances comfort and improves how the guitar sits against the player, allowing for a more natural playing position whether standing or seated. Finished in gloss urethane, the body maintains durability while preserving resonance and attack.
Wolfgang Alnico 2 Humbuckers With Expanded Control for Dynamic Range
Outfitted with direct-mount EVH Wolfgang Alnico 2 humbuckers in both the bridge and neck positions, this model delivers a powerful, articulate voice with balanced EQ and smooth sustain. The bridge pickup provides punch and clarity for tight, driving rhythms, while the neck adds thickness and saturation without losing definition. A three-way toggle allows quick access to each position, while a low-friction volume control with treble bleed supports smooth swells without sacrificing high-end clarity. A high-friction tone knob stays firmly in place during performance, and a dedicated kill switch enables sharp, rhythmic stutter effects and percussive control.
Quartersawn Baked Maple Neck With Compound Radius for Speed and Stability
Reinforced with graphite rods, the bolt-on quartersawn baked maple neck delivers strength and long-term stability while resisting environmental changes. Carved to EVH’s modified "C" profile, it offers a fast, comfortable feel suited for both aggressive rhythm playing and fluid lead work. A hand-rubbed satin urethane finish reduces friction for smooth movement, while the 12–16" compound-radius fingerboard transitions from a rounder feel for chording to a flatter surface for bends and fast runs. With 22 jumbo frets and a heel-mounted truss rod adjustment wheel, the neck is built for precision, speed and easy adjustment.
Floyd Rose Tremolo With EVH D-Tuna for Expressive Control
Designed for aggressive performance, the EVH-branded top-mount Floyd Rose locking tremolo maintains stable tuning through dive-bombs, pull-ups and wide vibrato. Fine tuners on each string allow precise adjustments, while the locking nut ensures consistent pitch under heavy use. The integrated EVH D-Tuna provides instant access to drop-D tuning without interrupting performance, expanding versatility in both live and studio settings. Paired with EVH-branded Gotoh tuning machines, the system delivers a reliable, performance-ready platform for expressive playing.
The EVH 5150 Series Deluxe: A Modern Take on Eddie Van Halen's Legacy
Refining the design principles that defined Eddie Van Halen’s playing—speed, control and tonal immediacy—the EVH 5150 Series Deluxe translates that philosophy into a modern instrument built for today’s players. With its fast-playing baked maple neck, versatile Wolfgang pickups, Floyd Rose system with D-Tuna and performance-focused control layout, it delivers a responsive, high-energy playing experience across a wide range of styles. More than a reissue, it’s a continuation of a design philosophy centered on feel and function, built to keep up with players who push their instruments to the limit.
